I figured I'd post a few pictures of the Lego Mindstorms NXT unboxing to show any curious buyers out there. The packaging looks great from the outside, but the layout inside is probably the worst part of the whole kit. The box is made of flimsy cardboard such that you couldn't use it for storage as it probably wouldn't stand up to much abuse. Not that you would want to though as its not nicely divided into compartments or anything, its just a bunch of plastic bags, with a few small cardboard boxes holding the sensors. There is also a "Start Here" box, that is a great place to start, and is a very good idea, except that in my case, the box was upside down (and the bottom isn't labeled) so I had no idea what to do and was very confused when the instructions started at step 40 or so. The first 39 steps are in the little book in the "Start Here" box. I think I'll go pick up a nice sturdy plastic box to store the parts in once I get going. A few More pictures after the jump.

Mindstorms Unboxing
September 19th, 2006Got my NXT!!!
September 18th, 2006
Stopped by Toys 'R Us today to pickup my set of Lego Mindstorms NXT. Unfortunately they didn't seem to have any. I'm not sure if they just didn't have any in stock or if they aren't carrying them. Regardless I stopped by my handy neighborhood Target afterwards and got one there. I was a bit surprised to see that of the five sets they had last week, only one was left. Hopefully they get some more in soon or else the next person who comes in is going to be rather disappointed. Its great to see that the set is selling so well though, hopefully this will mean that there will be lots of other Mindstorms related stuff coming out soon!
